Hopefully you didn’t notice

Your Association’s connection to you

Since 2012, we have been providing our members with a number of services on the Internet.  Development of these services has been carried out mainly by volunteers in the Association with support from our technology sponsor eComSecSol Consultancy Inc.

Once the platforms were built, we have relied totally on the support of our volunteers to maintain the content, while relying, when we needed to on our Technology sponsor.

There are a number of extra services we want to provide our members, and the public that the existing platform is no longer capable of.  In addition to these desires, we have found that with the other things that volunteers have to do for our membership, we haven’t had the time or resources to provide extra functionality and facilities to our Information Systems Infrastructure.

Thanks to the generous support of our Systems sponsors, a massive server migration has taken place.  This has moved our systems from an older Linux Platform to a state of the art Linux platform that will allow us to offer more form and function to the web services.

No trivial exercise

Over the past eight weeks a number of tasks had to be undertaken on the older server in order to ensure that we were able to provide continuity of services to the 1035+ registered Inspectors on our site, along with ensuring public facing facilities were also maintained.

Unfortunately, all this work could not be undertaken out of hours so once in awhile you may have noticed the site go offline for a period.   If this has caused you any inconvenience, we would like to apologise.  When you consider that the web-services we provide our members consists of 15 databases, 6 distinct web-sites and around 8 million lines of code, not to mention the integration to our technology partners, who provide balloting and support services, that task was mammoth.

If you didn’t see any difference, that that is great.    We now would ask you to help us with any outstanding glitches.  The may have been in the older platforms, but could just as easily have introduced in the migration exercise.  If you have any problems in accessing any of the existing or new services, please let us know as soon as possible.

When telling us of the problem, a full description of what you were attempting to do, the URL (that’s the address in your browser bar)  and a screen shot of what you are seeing will help us drill down to the problems much quicker.

pull-the-plugWe are running both systems in parallel for a short while but we are hoping to pull-the-plug on the old systems within the next 2 weeks.

Thanks for your patience and assistance.
