Our membership – Moving forward into 2017

The middle and latter part of 2016 was probably one of the most problematic years for the Home Inspection Profession.  Many inspectors found their income cut by 50%-85% year on year.

The decline in income has also taken a toll on the ability of inspectors to maintain their operations.   Over the Holiday period, the volunteers at OntarioACHI diligently worked through the membership register and newsletter subscribers to try to ascertain who was still operating as a Home Inspector.   We are sad to say that we have removed over 150 subscribers from the newsletter circulation due to the emails bouncing because of the inspector’s internet domains disappearing.  Combined with the quarterly cleanup of subscribers who never open or click on the newsletters, this has reduced the circulation to just over 800, down from the 1,321 of this time last year.

We have also pruned the registrant list down using similar criteria leaving 1,061 members of all categories in OntarioACHI.

We are pleased to see that those members who are still operating as Inspectors have chosen to renew their membership and as usual we have new members joining.

We continue to work on new initiatives to help boost inspectors business and income potential and we are working closely with our partners in the government to try to prevent another year like 2016.

As always we are proud of our members and trust that by publishing their ongoing commitment to the Home Inspection Profession here they will be seen as well respected professionals who can be trusted to perform to their utmost to assist their clients.

First, we would like our members to welcome all the new members of the Association.

Clicking on their name will link to their online profile.   It is a good reminder to all members that this profile is the one that is available to the public.  Ensuring you keep this up to date will help in advertising your business to members of the public looking for inspectors in your area.

We would also like to thank the following Ontario Home Inspector members for their continuing support following their recent renewals.

Remember, it is only with member support that we can:

  • Provide web services to link your business to your clients more efficiently
  • Provide you with access to free webinar functions to allow you to get your message out
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to offer you tangible benefits.
(Currently, the benefits exceed 6x the annual membership fee!)
  • Continue to provide a voice for you to Government and other professions.
  • Continue to enhance the Canadian Certified Home Inspector program to ensure it more widely accepted across Canada
  • Provide mentor-ship connection, TIPR programs, proctored examinations and education to paid-up members

Also, volunteering is a great way to enhance your business knowledge and provide you with outreach to people you may not normally come across in your daily operations.  It looks great on your resume and provides you with access to opportunities that would normally not be available.
